Daddy Rocks!!!

This is a post to thank my husband for being a great daddy and a great hubby!! Sydney is finally feeling better and is taking a nap, so I have time to post. As of Monday I had not slept all night in 9 nights, and it was catching up with me. Starting on Saturday night I was getting up every three hours to check on Syd and medicate her. So by Monday night I was lagging, I fell asleep on the couch around, Steven woke me up around 10 and got me into bed, he then took the monitor and phone out of our room and put it in the spare room, were he slept that night. He set his alarm for every 3 hours and got up with Syd all night so that I could sleep. Then he went to to work the next day and never complained. Thank you Steven!!!

Is it over yet?

Well we took Syd to the Dr again on Friday and I really thought we were getting somewhere. Just another stomach virus and we got some good booty cream for her diaper rash. But just wait, it was to good to be true. Saturday afternoon we were at a friends baby shower, and Sydney felt a little feverish. Hmmmmmm, well we got home and it was 103.4, I guess she did feel feverish. So the Dr on Friday said if her diarrhea got worse, she started vomiting or got a temp to call. Well I am a nurse so I decided to just wait and see, well she started vomiting. Sooo I called the pedi around 9pm and they said to take her to hospital. But Sydney was playing and laughing and I just knew if I took her in they would laugh at me so I didn't, I continued Tylenol and Motrin. 1am Saturday morning 104.3, more Motrin, 4 am 105.1, so I guess I have learned that my threshold is 105, so off we went. My poor baby has double ear infections, I am sure it is because we took her swimming on Friday, bad mom. And another UTI (Urinary tract infection). So my poor baby got an IV for fluid and antibiotics and an antibiotic shot, she did not like either. So we were released and have been fighting a temp all yesterday and now it is 3am as you guys might notice my posting time and I can't sleep because her temp at 1am was a cool 106.1. I gave more Motrin, I have my alarm set for every 3 hours to take her temp and give either Tylenol or Motrin we have be alternating. Anyways I gave her a bath and it came down to 104.9 and then she started vomiting. So do I give the Motrin again, because she threw up. Well I am not a nurse at 1am when it is my child that is running a 106 temp, so I called the pedi. They told me not to repeat the meds, continue taking temp and medicating every three hours, but that was her one chance to have a temp over 105, so if it gets above that again, she will be admitted. At 2am is was 103.7. Of course with all the excitement I am wide awake and nothing is on tv so here I sit, rambling on and now 4am in the morning. It is now time for another temp check and medication disbursement in the Rice household so I will stop for now.

MAALOX Rocks!!!!

Ok so Sydney had a horrible diaper rash from her tummy virus. I was talking to some friends at work about it and one of them said to put Maalox on her bottom. Well I did and it worked wonders. She still has it but it is so much better and she is not in as much pain. I feel as if maybe I have redeemed myself as a parent this one time.

Today is my Dad's birthday. Sydney and I are going to surprise him and take him out to dinner this evening. Then I think we will stay the night. He loves it when we stay the night because he gets to rock Syd to sleep, it is soooo sweet. It is so funny to watch him with her. He is such a great grandpa. WE are so blessed!!!

These are the days of my life......

Sydney is sick yet again. Another stomach virus, poor baby. It is coming out of both ends and this time she has gotten a horrible diaper rash. She is usually such a happy satisfied baby, but the past 24 hours have not been fun. I feel so helpless, when is the madness going to end? Steven said that if she wasn't so cute we might would have to put her down. I did remind him that Sydney was our baby and not a dog....

Cleaning House Sucks

I have spent all day cleaning house, this is something that I do not enjoy. I am thankful that I have such a beautiful house, but it would even be better if I had someone clean once a week. Sydney is at Mrs. Diane's, that is the lady that watches her a couple of days a week. So I was able to really clean today. Thank goodness I am done.

Sydney is feeling much better, she is starting to eat better. She lost over a pound last week and she is so tiny already. I was worried but she seems to be getting back to her old 8 month self. She is such a happy baby. I feel so blessed that Heavanly Father gave her to us. She is such a sweet spirit. Last night I was laughing like a witch and she was cracking up, she thought it was so funny. She also started singing with me. I have a song that I started singing to her when she was in TCH after her seizures when she was a month old. Anyways it stuck and I sing it to her and she lights up. Well last night she starting singing with me, it is so sweet, of course she is not really singing but she is making sounds while I sing. She is really the light of my life.

I'm tired ......

We helped our friends Steve and Nancy Potter move yesterday. Well I should say Steve helped and I watched. Sydney got to play with Brooklyn and Kaleigh. Sydney loves little girls, it is so much fun to watch her interact with other children. Today we had my great aunts 90th birthday. WOW, 90 years is a long time. She is a very interesting lady. She never married and has no children. My Auntie traveled the world and was very much an independent woman. She was way ahead of her times. She has really lived life.

I'm now a blogger.....

Well, I just can't handle not being a part of the latest and greatest, blogging. I did resist for a while but much to my husband's dismay I can no longer handle it, so here goes. It has been a yucky week for us, Sydney has been really sick. We went to San Antonio for the weekend with my mom and Aunt Susan and on our way home I noticied that Syd felt hot. Of course my mom and aunt just looked at each other and laughed at me. Needless to say when I finally did take it, her temp was 102. Hmmmmmm I was right and I of course had to remind them that I am also a nurse. Anyways I took her to the pedi on Monday and she had a bad UTI, poor baby. Then Monday night her temp spiked to 105.1, very scary. She has slowly started to get better. But then tonight she started running a temp again. She has been super fussy, so hopefully she will start to feel better soon. If not I might have to put a fork in my eye, because that would be less painful then Sydney crying for hours.

Another recent update is that it appears that I might be returning to school to finish my graduate degree in the Spring. I'm nervous but excited.
